Botanical Gardens and Cape Coast!

This weekend we had Friday off so we got to be tourists! On Friday we drove to the outskirts of Accra up the mountains. On the way there we got pulled over because our Uber driver ran a red light, so that was a new experience. He didn't have a license, so the cop was not very nice. We made it out alive though! Once up the mountain we went to this beautiful botanical garden, where there was all kinds of tropical plants! We walked around for a while and then had a nice lunch up there. While walking around through the gardens there was some people in the forests chanting prayers and worshiping. I had never see anything like it before! Afterwards we walked around the town to look at the views of Accra, and then we took the trotro home. The trotro is the form of public transportation in Ghana that is super cheap! It's just vans smashed full of people, where a guy yells out the window getting more people to fill the van! Once dropped off in the city we went to a huge local market, to shop. I was pretty tired from the heat at this point, so it was pretty overwhelming. We then took a taxi back the mall, and they driver tried to charge us more money and was following us around, that is pretty normal though when your white in Ghana. I got my favorite mango smoothie and then we went to bed!

The next morning we woke up early and drove to Cape Coast for the second time that week. The car ride was pretty bad haha. There was no AC, which is common, but the crack in the back window just let a ton of dirt in. By the end of the day we were all actually covered in dirt! Despite the dusty car ride we got to do some awesome stuff! We first went to Kakum National Park, and got to do a canopy walk over the rainforest! It was awesome and so pretty! There was other white people there too, so that's always weird to see! After we went to a smaller crocodile pond and got to pet them again! The last thing we did was go to the Elmina slave castle. This is the biggest slave castle in Ghana and the oldest! Afterwards on the way home and we got pulled over again! He did not have his license as well, we somehow made it back though! It was an awesome day, the canopy walk was my favorite!

On Sunday we sang in Sacrament and said goodbye the ward. Can't believe I only have one week left! I'm getting excited to go home so I can open my mission call that's waiting for me!
