BYU Global Opportunity Scholarship

UNITE FOR SIGHT: GHANA

Through the BYU study abroad program I have been given the opportunity to participate as a Unite for Sight fellow and help restore and improve eye vision in Ghana! I will be working under the direction of a worldwide organization, called Unite for Sight. As a student attending one of their global impact corps programs, I will be able to learn from doctors and help provide eye care for patients living in poverty and slums. I will learn from local medical professionals about social entrepreneurship, patient barriers to care, and about effective strategies to reach the hardest-to-reach patients who are otherwise unable to access or afford care. I am able to participate in this trip because of generous donations from family and friends, BYU academic scholarships, and a global opportunity scholarship from the Kennedy Center.
